ABOUT DIANE JOHNSON
Novelist whose satirical works often feature American female characters living abroad in France. Her novel, Persian Nights, was a 1988 finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.
Before becoming a novelist, she wrote a column for The New York Review of Books. She won the California Book Award for her 1997 work, Le Divorce.
She co-wrote the screenplay for The Shining, basing it on the novel of the same title by horror author Stephen King .
She was born in Moline, Illinois. In her adulthood, she divided her time between Paris and San Francisco.
Her novel, Le Divorce, was adapted into a film starring Kate Hudson .
