ABOUT DON THOMPSON
Jazz artist who dominated the late-1960s Toronto scene. He mastered multiple instruments, including bass, vibes, and drums.
He was a freelance musician in Vancouver from 1960 until 1965.
He served as the artist in residence at London's Royal Academy of Music in 1996.
He was born in Powell River, British Columbia.
He began a five-year stint with pianist George Shearing in 1982.
