ABOUT DONALD ERB
Pioneering composer who created sweeping orchestral works and combined them with the sound of electronic music. His most popular pieces included "Concerto for Brass and Orchestra" and "Ritual Observances."
His talents as a jazz trumpeter were recognized early on, and he eventually earned a Doctorate of Music from Indiana University under the tutelage of the famous Bernard Heiden.
His musical piece "Reconnaissance" combined acoustic instruments with live synthesizer. It premiered in concert in 1967.
His family was residing in Youngstown, Ohio, when he was born.
His earliest concerts featured Robert Moog , the pioneering synthesizer musician, playing the very instrument Moog helped to popularize.
