ABOUT DONALD VEGA
Jazz pianist and composer born in Nicaragua who was the recipient of the 2007 Jazz Student Soloist Award from Down Beat.
He attended USC for jazz studies a few years after fleeing Nicaragua and then went on to study at the Julliard School.
He was the first-place winner of the 2008 Philips Jazz Piano Competition at the University of West Florida.
He and his wife had a daughter named Isabel.
He and Deanthony Thomas both attended Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles.
