ABOUT DONALD BROWN

Known for his vast repertoire of compositions that were recorded by many of his era's foremost jazz artists.

He attended Memphis State University from 1972 until 1975.

He taught at Berklee College of Music from 1983 until 1985 and at the University of Tennessee beginning in 1988.

His parents encouraged his musicality, and he learned the trumpet and drums while growing up in Memphis.

He was a member of Art Blakey 's Jazz Messengers from 1981 until 1982.
