ABOUT DOUGLAS JACKSON

After serving in the Tennessee House of Representatives, this Democratic Party politician became a member of the Tennessee State Senate.

After graduating from Austin Peay State University in Tennessee, he earned his J.D. from Samford University's Cumberland School of Law.

In the mid-1990s, while serving in the Tennessee House of Representatives, he successfully battled cancer.

He and his wife, Laura, settled in his hometown of Dickson, Tennessee. His brothers, William and Lawrence, and his father, Jimmy, all had careers as doctors.

He and 49th Tennessee Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey both served in the Tennessee Senate and the Tennessee House of Representatives.
