Drederick Irving
ABOUT DREDERICK IRVING
Former shooting guard who starred for the Boston University Terriers basketball team between 1984 and 1988. He would finish his career there with the second-most minutes played in 1988.
He grew up in the Bronx, New York City, where he was a basketball standout at Stevenson High School.
He later starred on Australia's Bulleen Bombers squad between 1992 and 1994 as their top scorer. He played for coach Brett Brown, who was a fellow Boston University alumnus.
His son Kyrie Irving has gone on to NBA stardom as a point guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics. His daughter's name is Asia Irving . His wife Elizabeth died suddenly from illness in 1996.
His first grandchild is his son Kyrie 's daughter Azurie Irving .
