ABOUT ED FLANAGAN
Center for NFL teams from 1965 to 1976. He signed with the Detroit Lions in 1965 and later moved to the San Diego Chargers between 1975 to 1976. He became known for his rivalry with Dick Butkus , who he called his greatest professional challenge. After his retirement as a player, he became a coach for the Oakland Invaders and the Arizona Rattlers.
He played college football for Purdue University .
He was chosen for four Pro Bowls. He supplemented his income by selling steel to automobile companies. He also worked for a beer distributor.
He was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
Bob Griese was his teammate at Purdue.
