
ABOUT EDDIE COSTA
Jazz artist and vibraphonist whose style was known for its power and for focusing on the lower octaves, earning him the nickname The Bear.
He was drafted in 1951 by the Army and spent two years abroad, performing in Japan and Korea.
He had a highly successful trio appearance at the 1957 Newport Jazz Festival.
His brother Bill was musically trained and had an impact on his artistry. He left behind a wife and four children when he was killed in a car accident in 1962 at the age of 31.
He recorded 1958's Guys and Dolls Like Vibes with Bill Evans .
