United States Auto Club racer who died when he crashed into Dave MacDonald's burning car on the second lap of the 1964 Indianapolis 500.
He made his Indy 500 debut in 1957.
An inductee of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, he is famous for coining the phrase, "if you can't win, be spectacular."
He was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
His best Indy 500 was in 1961, when he finished second behind A.J. Foyt .
