Russian-born Kazakhstani tennis player who became the first Kazakhstani player in the top 15. In 2021, she reached the quarterfinals of the French Open without dropping a set when she defeated Serena Williams in the fourth round. At Wimbledon in 2022, she achieved a career-high ranking.

She originally focused on gymnastics and ice skating. She began playing tennis at the age of six.

In 2020, Adidas started sponsoring her for clothing and shoes. She had previously been endorsed by Nike.

She has an older sister.

WTA coach Adriano Albanesi described her as "a right-handed Petra Kvitova ."
