Her first career was as a dancer. However, she has since retired and now works as a chiropractor full-time in their home state of Pennsylvania. She homeschooled all three of her children.

Her sister is Nancy Cartwright who is most famous for being the voice of Bart Simpson. The siblings have been photographed at events together.

She and her husband share 4 children together. She is the stepmother of his daughter from another marriage, Cayla Carpenter . Together they had three daughters who all work in the entertainment industry: Shannon Carpenter , Sarah Carpenter , and pop singer Sabrina.
