Wife of explorer James Cook , whom she married in 1762. She never remarried after his death in 1779.
Her father Samuel Batts was a mentor to her future husband and keeper of the Bell Inn at Execution Dock, Wapping.
She was buried at St Andrew the Great, Cambridge, England.
Her children were George, Hugh, Joseph, Elizabeth and James Cook.
She and Elizabeth Hamilton are both wives of famous men who were born in the 1700s and died in the 1800s.
