Zimbabwean judge known for defending the independence of the country's judicial branch. He founded the free-market Forum Party, a conservative political party in Zimbabwe.
He served as Chief Justice from 1984 to 1990.
He became Zimbabwe's first black judge in 1980.
He and his wife had 4 children.
He was often highly critical of Robert Mugabe .
