Eugenio María de Hostos
ABOUT EUGENIO MARíA DE HOSTOS
Puerto Rican philosopher and educator who was known as "El Gran Ciudadano de las Américas" and was awarded with many honors throughout his lifetime including having a municipality named after him in the Dominican Republic.
He joined the Cuban Revolutionary Committee in the U.S.and became the editor of the La Revolución journal.
He founded the first Normal School in Santo Domingo in 1875.
He married Belinda Otilia de Ayala Quintana in 1877, and they had five children.
Like him, John Searle is a known philosopher.
