ABOUT FABIAN SCHAR

Center back who joined FC Basel in 2012 and became a member of the Swiss national team in 2013. He has also played for Hoffenheim and Deportivo La Coruña. He signed with Newcastle United in 2018.

He debuted professionally for FC Wil 1900 in 2009.

He scored his first goal in international competition on September 6, 2013 in a 4-4 tie against Iceland.

He was born in Wil, Switzerland.

He and striker Eren Derdiyok became teammates on the Swiss national team.
