Brazilian left-back who launched his senior career with Guaratinguetá in the year 2009. He went on to play for numerous other clubs including Benfica, the Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Botafogo.

He played youth soccer for Grêmio.

He made seven assists in 31 league appearances for Guingamp. He shares moments from his soccer career and family life on his marcaloficial Instagram account, where he has amassed over 150,000 followers. In May of 2022, Wolves manager Bruno Lage confirmed Marçal's departure at the end of the 2021-22 season.

He featured his wife Marta Karoly in a series of photos posted to his Instagram account on February 4, 2023.

He and Gatito Fernández have played together as teammates for Botafogo.
