Known for his globetrotting recitals and tours and his recordings of virtuoso pianist Sigismond Thalberg's works.
He earned third prize at the 1980 International Santander Piano Competition.
He became president of the Sigismund Thalberg International Study Centre in 1996.
He was born in Catania, historically a hub for Italian culture, art, and politics.
He and pianist Vittorio Bresciani founded a duo in 1998 to promote piano versions of Franz Liszt 's symphonic compositions.
