He attended the Paris Conservatoire from 1947 until 1953.
He became the only pianist to ever study with composer Francis Poulenc .
He was born in Cannes, a hub for artists and the location of the Cannes Film Festival.
He collaborated with many of his fellow musicians, including Isaac Stern .
