ABOUT GABRIELA VON-HABSBURG
This member of the royal House of Habsburg abandoned her title of Archduchess Gabriela of Austria and pursued a career as a diplomat, taking office in 2009 as Georgian Ambassador to Germany. Also an artist, she created stainless steel, abstract sculptures that were installed throughout eastern Europe.
After taking several philosophy courses at the Ludwig Maximilian University, she enrolled at the Munich Academy of Arts.
Beginning in 2001, she taught at the Academy of Arts in Tbilisi, Georgia.
She was raised in exile in Bavaria by her parents, Austrian Prince Otto von Habsburg and his wife, Princess Regina of Saxe-Meiningen. Her marriage to German lawyer Christian Meister lasted from 1978 until 1997 and produced three children.
Franz Joseph I was another member of Austrian royalty.
