ABOUT GARY BETTENHAUSEN
21-time Indy 500 competitor, who was the 1967 and 1971 Sprint car champion.
He began his career racing midget cars.
He was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 1993.
His father, Tony Bettenhausen, was also a famous sprint car and Indy 500 racer.
His best Indy 500 performance came in 1980, when he finished third behind Tom Sneva and winner Johnny Rutherford .
