American blues singer and guitarist who released numerous albums and was known for his finger-picking style of playing.

He learned guitar at a young age and played ragtime tones while collaborating with other artists, including Bull City Red.

He was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1937.

He was born one of eight children and became blind as an infant.

He has stated he was influenced by many artists, including Bob Dylan .
