Eclectic jazz artist and highly respected sideman, collaborating with Phil Woods , Buster Williams , and Al Foster .
He was a student at the Peabody Institute where he majored in classical trumpet and music education.
He had a successful educational career, teaching at The Juilliard School, the University of Manitoba, and Portland State University.
He married well-known jazz pianist Kerry Politzer.
He counted many great artists as influences, including the legendary Herbie Hancock .
