ABOUT GEORGE STRONG
American composer who wrote classical music during the Romantic period. His compositions include Undine, opus 14, The Haunted Mill, and The Life of an Artist.
He grew up in a musical family and attended the Leipzig Conservatory in Germany before relocating to Switzerland in 1897.
He also painted with watercolors and worked professionally as an artist.
His father was on the board of the New York Philharmonic, but hoped his son would follow his footsteps into law. He eventually supported his son's musical aspirations.
He was a contemporary of Edward MacDowell and was invited by him to teach at the New England Conservatory of Music.
