ABOUT GIORGOS DONIS
Midfielder who was the first Greek to participate in the English Premiership; he went by George Donis in England.
His youth career lasted from 1986 until 1990, during which he played for Pavlos Melas, Panathinaikos, Athinaikos, and Panargiakos; he signed with PAS Giannina in 1990.
He used the 1995 Bosman ruling to secure a record contract of 1.1 billion drachmas with the Blackburn Rovers, where he played one season, 1996-1997.
His family was residing in Frankfurt when he was born.
He and Akis Zikos both represented Greece in international competition.
