ABOUT GORDON BECK
Self-taught jazz artist known for his inventiveness and technical sensitivity. He was remembered for Experiment with Pops, his 1968 album.
He originally was planning to be an engineering technical draftsman.
He joined pioneering jazz-rock group Nucleus in 1972, after which he founded Gyroscope.
He and his family relocated to Middlesex when he was young. He took piano lessons while attending Pinner County Grammar School.
He counted Dave Brubeck and George Shearing among his inspirations.
