ABOUT GRAMATIK
An electronic music creator, his sound is a mix of hip-hop, electro, and dubstep. He became popular after years of selling his music through the online portal Beatport. His debut album Street Bangerz Volume 1 was on the Top 100 Chill Out charts for six months in 2008.
When he was three years old, he would take his sister's cassette tapes and listen to them constantly. They were all American jazz, funk, and R&B. He was so inspired that he began mixing his own beats as soon as he got a computer at the age of 13. He began selling them through the online database Beatport and started garnering interest all over Europe and the United States. He made the move to the United States in 2008 to join the mainstream music industry.
In 2010 he was nominated for Best Chill Out Artist at the Beatport Music Awards. In 2012 he won three Best Track Award from the same organization.
He was born Denis Jašarević in Portorož, Slovenia. He has an older sister. He has lived in New York City.
He is friends with fellow electronic artist Pretty Lights , with whose label he was signed from 2008 to 2013, when he left to form his own label Lowtemp.
