He discovered Saw as a demo reel made by its director James Wan and raised the $1 million needed to make it.
His original Saw film took in more than $100 million in theatre sales and DVDs combined, and the sequel, released the following year, made $85 million at the box office alone.
His family was residing in Phoenix, Arizona, when he was born.
His Saw films starred Dina Meyer as Detective Allison Kerry.
