English farmer who was featured in the 1970 ITV documentary, Too Long a Winter.

She gained national attention for writing the 1970s article, How to be Happy on 170 Pounds a Year, for the Yorkshire Post.

She gained fame for her ability to live a frugal yet fulfilling life.

Both of her parents passed away when she was 35 years old.

She was interviewed by Jane Garvey on Woman's Hour in 2008.
