ABOUT HELMUT MARKO
Austrian former racing driver who is the advisor to the Red Bulls GmbH Formula One teams. He is also head of Red Bull's driver development program.
He competed in the Formula 1 Grand Prix in 1971 and 1972. He held the record for the longest distance covered when he raced in the 1971 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In 1972, he was permanently blinded in his left eye by a stone that pierced his visor. The incident ended his racing career.
He was born in Graz, Austria.
He was friends with Formula 1 racing legend Jochen Rindt in school.
