ABOUT HERMAN CHITTISON

Virtuoso jazz artist who was often compared to Art Tatum . He was one of the first to take American jazz to Europe.

His first gig was in 1928 with Zack Whyte's band.

He was featured as the jazz pianist at the Blue Note Club on Casey, Crime Photographer, the long-running radio program.

He was born in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, and died in Cleveland, Ohio.

He collaborated with singer Ethel Waters early in his career.
