Known best for his web-based Hetalia: Axis Powers manga series, this Japanese artist also penned the Chibisan Date and Inaka no Nono series.
He briefly trained at New York's Parsons The New School for Design.
His Hetalia: Axis Powers series spawned film, television, and video game adaptations.
A native of Koriyama, Japan, he later lived and worked in New York City, U.S.A.
He is a contemporary of fellow Japanese manga artist Eiichiro Oda .
