Hall of Fame defensive end who won Super Bowl XVIII with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1984. He recorded 91.5 career sacks and became an NFL sportscaster after retirement.

He was a collegiate heavyweight boxing champion while also playing football at Villanova University.

He was an 8-time Pro Bowler and one-time Defensive Player of the Year in his career.

His oldest son, Chris Long , became a defensive end in the NFL and his second oldest became an offensive lineman. He also has a third son named Howie Jr.

He co-hosted Fox's NFL pregame show with Terry Bradshaw .
