ABOUT HUGH ANTOINE D'ARCY
French-born poet known for an 1887 work entitled "The Face Upon the Floor." The poem inspired both a film and a popular country western song.
He studied at Ipswitch University in England and enjoyed acting in productions at Bristol's Theatre Royal.
He moved to America in 1871 and became involved in the business side of the motion picture industry.
He married the daughter of an American film producer.
His most famous poem was made into a 1914 film starring Charlie Chaplin .
