ABOUT ILSE VON ALPENHEIM
Classical and romantic musician who was praised for her structural transparency and sensitive sound.
Her mother was a piano teacher and provided her with her initial training.
She collaborated with many chamber musicians, including Max Rostal, Henryk Szeryng, and the Amadeus Quartet.
She married Hungarian conductor and composer Antal DorĂ¡ti in 1971. He honored her with several pieces.
She made copious recordings, including laying down all of Franz Schubert 's compositions for piano and strings.
