Only child of American television and film actress Jasmine Guy , who is most known for her role as Whitley on the NBC TV show A Different World . Her mother is also known by her appearances in the film Harlem Nights as well as the television series The Vampire Diaries and Grey's Anatomy .

She made her official television debut as a teenager in 2016.

Her mother won four consecutive NAACP Image Awards for 'Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series' while acting on A Different World from 1990 to 1993.

She grew up living with her family in Atlanta, Georgia.

Her mother acted alongside Raven-Symoné during an episode of kid's television show That's So Raven .
