ABOUT IRA GERSHWIN

Lyricist and brother of George Gershwin who wrote lyrics for "Summertime," as well as for songs like "I Got Rhythm."

He was a cashier at his father's Turkish bath house.

He often composed with his younger brother and published the book Lyrics on Several Occasions.

He married Leonore Gershwin on September 14, 1926.

In addition to working with his brother, he also worked with composer Jerome Kern on songs like "Long Ago (and Far Away)."
