ABOUT IVAR ANTONSEN
Jazz artist who became known after debuting in Oslo in 1967 alongside Jan Garbarek and Palle Mikkelborg.
He began the Ivar Antonsen Trio in the late 1960s with Espen Rud and Terje Venaas alternating on drums.
He was a professor at California State University from 1995 until 2004.
His family encouraged his musical ambitions early on, and he began playing the organ and accordion while he was still young.
He was inspired by Igor Stravinsky's and Johann Sebastian Bach 's compositional models.
