ABOUT JACK CLAYTON
British New Wave film director who directed the 1959 Oscar-winning film Room at the Top and the 1974 film adaptation of "The Great Gatsby". He was known for directing films based on literary works, including Henry James' "The Turn of the Screw".
He began directing films while he was serving with the Royal Air Force in World War II.
He was a child actor in the 1929 film Dark Red Roses.
He was married to actress Haya Harareet until his death.
Director Steven Spielberg was a fan of his 1967 film Our Mother's House.
