ABOUT JAKOB GIMPEL
Award-winning concert musician who was honored with the West German Order of Merit, First Class, and the State of Israel's Ben-Gurion Award.
He debuted in Vienna, Austria, in 1923, under Pierre Monteux with the Concertgebouw Orchestra.
He was professor in residence from 1971 until 1986 at California State University, Northridge.
He was the older brother of famed violinist Bronislav Gimpel and the younger brother of pianist and conductor Karol Gimpel.
He recorded music for the classic 1946 Bugs Bunny animated short Rhapsody Rabbit, which was directed by Friz Freleng .
