ABOUT JAMES VAN PRAAGH
A spiritual guru, he is also the author of several popular spirituality-themed books, including Talking to Heaven and Ghosts Among Us. He was also an executive producer of The Ghost Whisperer, a popular CBS series.
He was born in Bayside, New York, and was raised in the Roman Catholic faith. In his youth, he worked as a medium and performed numerous psychic readings.
He graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in communications.
An openly gay man, he married his life partner in 1995.
