ABOUT JAN ŠVANKMAJER
Director best known for his surreal films and stop-motion animations. Some of his popular films are Little Otik and Lunacy. Famous filmmaker Terry Gilliam has stated he took much influence from Švankmajer's work.
Since childhood, he showed an interest in puppet theater which would influence his later work.
In 2000, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the World Festival of Animated Film.
His wife's name is Eva. They have two children.
In 1988, he created his own film version of Alice in Wonderland by author Lewis Carroll .
