ABOUT JAN SMETERLIN

Concert musician known for his mastery of fellow Pole and lifelong friend Karol Szymanowski's repertoire.

He was awarded a scholarship that enabled him to study with the famed Leopold Godowsky during his time in Vienna.

His other passion was cooking, and his book of recipes was published after his death.

He began performing when he was seven, but his family refused to consider this a legitimate career option and he had to study law as a result.

He focused most of his recording efforts on Frederic Chopin 's oeuvre.
