ABOUT JEAN-MARIE LEPEN
French politician and member of the European Parliament who was the founder and former president of the Front National party. He was a political conservative who strongly opposed same-sex marriage, euthanasia, and abortion.
He attended Pantheon-Assas University before enlisting in the army in the Foreign Legion.
He ran for President of France and lost five times. In 1957, he became the general secretary of the veterans' organization, the National Front of Combatants.
He had three children and had been married twice; his last marriage was to Jeanne-Marie Paschos.
He had conversed with Hilary Rodham Clinton on foreign affairs.
