Politician who is recognized for becoming the President of Angola in 2017. In September 2018, he became the Chairman of the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola.

He served in the military and his career began with fighting the Portuguese in the Angolan War of Independence.

In Portugal he received the Grand Collar of the Order of Prince Henry.

He and his wife, Ana Afonso Dias, have six children.

He succeeded Jose Eduardo dos Santos as the President of Angola.
