He competed in his first race at Duck River Speedway in 1989.
He was the 1998 Heartland Region Champion.
His father James "Flookie" Buford was a two-time Nashville Speedway USA champion.
He competed in the 2003 Trace Adkins Chrome 300, which was won by Scott Riggs .
