ABOUT JOE SHUSTER
Artist for DC Comics who collaborated with author Jerry Siegel on the creation of the Superman character.
He was born in Toronto, where he held a childhood job as a newspaper boy. When he was around nine years old, he moved with his family to Cleveland, Ohio.
He suffered from near-blindness, a condition that forced him to end his career as a comic artist in the 1970s.
His Jewish parents immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands and the Ukraine.
He became a member of the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1992.
