ABOUT JOE WEATHERLY

Back-to-back NASCAR Grand National champion in 1962 and '63.

He was a standout motorcycle racer, winning three American Motorcycle Association nationals between 1946 and 1953.

The year before he started his championship run, he was voted NASCAR's Most Popular Driver.

He grew up in Norfolk, Virginia.

He raced against Junior Johnson in NASCAR's early days.
