ABOUT JOEL SOUZA
Filmmaker and screenwriter who became well-known after he was accidentally shot by actor Alec Baldwin while filming the movie Rust in New Mexico in October 2021. The film's cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, was shot and killed in the incident.
He made his writing and directing debut in the 2010 film Hanna's Gold.
After being injured while filming, he was flown to a nearby hospital via helicopter to receive emergency care. He was released the following morning.
He is based in San Francisco with his wife and two children.
