John Pascoe Fawkner
ABOUT JOHN PASCOE FAWKNER
Australian politician who financed a party of free settlers from Van Diemen's Land to sail mainland in his ship called Borrowdale in 1835.
He worked on his family's farm as a child and then started working as a builder and sawyer at the age of 18.
He purchased the schooner Enterprize in 1835 to search for a suitable site in the Port Phillip District.
He married Eliza Cobb in 1822.
Like him, Andrew Fisher was an Australian politician.
